Throughout this website, our magazine, and our radio show, we have provided a lot of information for people to use to take control of their health. The effect of the diet on the human body cannot be overstated, and it is why we decided to place our recipes on-line. We will be adding more recipes as time goes on.Throughout some of these recipes, you may be shocked to learn that they include butter, sugar, and some of them are for deep-frying. Do not be alarmed. Butter is not the menace that you have been 'educated' about. Instead, butter was ostracized in order to give way to an emerging industry of truly dangerous, chemically engineered oils, in the form of hydrogenated fats. Some readers will remember that margarine arrived at exactly the same time that butter was revealed to be dangerous. There was no coincidence. The media attack on saturated fats was well paid for, and many people continue believing these lies about butter. The same people who suffer from heart problems ironically avoid the saturated fats for this reason. In truth, saturated fats provide nutrients and fatty acids necessary for good heart health, so long as they are taken in moderation. The same cannot be said for the synthetic oils, which incredibly have been promoted in the name of 'health'.
The Naturally Good Magazine staff does not recommend that you eat refined sugar, and we do not advocate the addition of a fifth food group to the food pyramid, which was added to represent sugars and fats. Instead, we recognize that people will eat sweet foods, and these are not harmful in moderation, if you use natural sweeteners. That is why we offer these recipes, for we are providing healthy alternatives to what are normally considered 'bad' foods. We do not use refined sugar, but instead; evaporated cane juice. It is much healthier, does not cause diabetes, nor does it aggravate the symptoms of diabetes if taken in moderation. If cooking using a deep fryer, we recommend using peanut oil due to its Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio, and the fact that it does not turn rancid as easily as most oils do.
