Mailing List Policies and Community Standards
- Your address will be automatically concealed if you post to the mailing list, or if you reply to a message.
- We have a no evil policy. If you're a sociopath, then we'll get rid of you.
- It's okay to have debates, even heated ones; so long as it's something worth fighting for.
- Profanity is never necessary, and it may provoke disciplinary intervention.
- Proponents of energy healing (except orgone related), witchcraft, detox foot pads, radiation devices, M.M.S., DCA, magnet therapy, urine therapy, and other frauds are unwelcome.
- Personal attacks are generally discouraged, and administrators will sometimes intervene, on a case-by-case basis. Although we acknowledge that some people earn personal attacks.
- Do not copy entire articles from other sources, unless permission from the author(s) was obtained. It is ethical to quote small sections of articles elsewhere. Always give credit to the author(s), and a complementary link to the original source.
- We have a no pornography policy.
- We have a no tolerance policy concerning spam. Spams will be swiftly met with a permanent ban, and a formal complaint requesting that the perpetrator's Internet access be terminated by his provider. When applicable, we will also report the perpetrator to the various Internet blacklisting services.
- We strongly encourage you to use your real name, because people will respect you more and consider your words to be more credible. We consider openness, honesty, and a willingness to stand behind one's words as paramount to building a healthy community.
- Your first messages to the list may have delays. Your messages will go through an approval process while you are a new member, and your later messages will get posted automatically, once we trust that you will not abuse our network.
- We are easily one of the most censored sites on the Internet, so you will have trouble getting mail from us (and the mailing list) if you are a customer of one of the following evil empires: A.O.L., S.B.C. Global, Shaw.ca, charter.net, Bellsouth, auburn.edu, M.S.N., Live, Prodigy, frontiernet.net, AT&T, and Hotmail. Furthermore, Yahoo corporation has a long history of diverting our message into the spam files. Ironically, these are actually the worst spam guilty companies, and they will happily report you as the problem to spammers (for complaining), via their official "feedback loop" systems. Look it up, if you have trouble believing it. Comcast is guily of working with spammers too, by the way. Do the right thing by only supporting ethical companies with your business. We recommend Google (for G-mail), even thought there is greater hassle in the sign-up process. Google mail is worth the extra effort, because they do not abuse their power (at least in regard to e-mail) and they do not tolerate abuse either.
- We have a difficult balancing act that we hope you can respect. This balancing act is one of weighing open community collaboration verses practicality. We expect for serious health topics to be discussed, and as a result of such discussions, people could be harmed or killed by false information; even by unintentional false information. This is a burden that we bear constantly, and it is a consideration in our moderation of messages. Remember the rule: first do no harm above all else.
- We suggest that your first posting to the list is one in which you introduce yourself to everyone.
- We go to great effort to hide your email address and to protect your privacy, but other members of our private e-mail list will see your e-mail address whenever you post to the list.
- Members will be removed from the mailing list immediately after a request is received for that. We will not hold your e-mail address hostage like our peers do, or harass you forever more. If you wish to unsubscribe yourself, there are instructions in every message on how to do so, and the process is very easy.
